12th ANNUAL ROCK ‘n RETAIL MUSIC MARKETING –
CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL L.A. HOLIDAY DRIVE
REAPS DONATIONS OF OVER $20,000 IN CD’S/DVD’S/BOOKS
Los Angeles, CA – The Annual 2010 Rock ‘n Retail/Web ‘n Retail Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Holiday CD/DVD Drive brought in approximately $20,000 worth of CD’s and DVD’s which was a 25% increase over the 2009 drive. Even in tough times, 15 Record Labels/Distributors, Management Companies, DVD Companies, Artists and Promotion Firms managed to pull together the highest donation amount recognized over the previous 11years.

Merchandise donated included such artists/products as Stone Temple Pilots, Lee Ann Womack, Sugar Land, Kidz Bop Kids, Rockabye Baby Lullaby Renditions of U2, Carrie Underwood, Dixie Chicks, Good Hands Bad Blood, to name just a few of the quality titles.
President of Rock ‘n Retail, LLC/Web ‘n Retail, Gale Rosenberg became involved in providing entertainment for the patients at the Hospital when her less then 20 month old niece, Paige, was diagnosed with a Neuroblastoma. Neuroblastomas comprise 15% of cancer deaths in children and generally manifest in children under the age of 2. She was rushed into surgery and her prognosis for survival was not good. The Doctors said that if she did survive, her future would be compromised. They
removed 16 Lymph Nodes and one Adrenal gland.
”Paige is truly a miracle; she is now 11 years old, she has been off all medications for many years and she leads a completely normal, wonderful life. While spending so many hours at the hospital I spoke with many young cancer patients, some that had not left the hospital in several years. Most all of them had personal CD players that had been donated, but they had only 1 or 2 CD’s to idle away the time. Now, some of the rooms have DVD players in them as well.”
Wendy Kellaris, Director of Volunteer Services for Children’s Hospital L.A. states “The positive impact of music, books and other entertainment of this type cannot be measured. It is therapeutic, soothing and healing. We give our many thanks to Rock ‘n Retail for their 12 years of support to Children’s Hospital.”
“Donations made during the Holiday season make up 80% of our yearly donations. We use these donations all year round. The patients get a gift every week while in the hospital as well as an additional gift for birthdays, recovery from operations, traumatic events, etc. We distribute 70,000 gifts yearly and must rely on the generosity of the Community to help us accomplish this very important task. Patients are fortunate to have such excellent Doctors and Nurses taking care of them, but sometimes the most important thing for them is the knowledge that people outside our walls care about them as well” states Kellaris.
This year’s holiday drive was turning out to be a very difficult one as donations were down almost 70% from the year before. Amazingly, with a week left in the holiday drive, Wendy Kellaris reached out to many of her local news stations. With their help, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles was able to meet their donation goal and it turned out to be a great year!
