Looking for London Business Travel List for Dining , Museum Visits and Things to Do this Season

Image

With the right entertainment and dining guide, on-the-go business travelers to London can explore the city between meetings and after the business day ends.  If you have a morning free before you head off to your meetings, you should enjoy an authentic English breakfast at The Wolseley. It offers an award-winning full English breakfast starting as early as 7 am for early risers (or those not yet adjusted to London time). The breakfast menu features a viennoiserie basket, the famous The English (eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans, tomato, black pudding and mushrooms), and lighter fare like grapefruit or granola. Reservations are recommended as this event is very popular amongst the business set during the week. Then you can soak up the city by going to some of the most controversial and intriguing contemporary British art at the Saatchi Gallery. Located in a 70,000 square-foot space in Chelsea, exhibitions of sculpture, painting, photography, video and installations keep the eye and mind engaged. After that, you can stop by BuckinghamPalace and try and see the queen!

To make sure you’re ready for your eventful morning in London, why not indulge yourself to a relaxing spa day at your hotel after your flight? It can erase those bleary eyes and disoriented state of being from jumping through time zones.  Jet Lag is one of the most common problems business men and women experience.  The Mandarin Oriental Hotel near Hyde Park features a luxurious spa offering hydrotherapy, color therapy and an opportunity to create a custom spa experience. There’s also Urban Retreat (for the ladies) and The Refinery (for gentlemen) at Harrod’s .Harrod’s also provides a menu of services as a quick jump-start for the hard-working businessperson.

LondonWest End restaurants in London to enjoy dinner at include The Ivy London, Thames Barrier and dinner by Heston Blumenthal. The Fat Duck, the Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park location of Din-ner are all restaurants from acclaimed 3 Star Michelin Chef which are packed with foodies who come for degustation of ofal and classic British country fare prepared with modern gastronomic technique.

ImageImage

There’s never a shortage of culture rich events in LA, SF, or NYC, so this summer is a great time to plan a visit!  If your ideal vacation includes museum visits, foodie experiences, and luxury shopping, Carnet’s got the best suggestions for you.  Start creating your summer wishlist of experiences today!  Carnet’s datebook of events covers art, restaurant, and luxury store openings, the best dining in each city, and more.

San Francisco is full of exciting museum exhibits this summer!  “Going Modern: American Design in the 1920s” is on display at the Walt Disney Family Museum in Presidio.  “Gilded Lives:  New York Fashion and Design, 1880–1914” is a preview on display at the de Young Museum (before heading to New York City August 20th), while The Vatican Ethnological Missionary Museums loaned the de Young more than 80,000 objects from indigenous cultures combining form and function as “materialization of spirituality.”

Enjoying a meal seated on the terrace overlooking the East River at Tom Colicchio’s Riverpark is on Carnet’s wishlist of NYC dining experiences.  The John Dory Oyster Bar is another of Carnet’s favorites.  There’s certainly never a lack of luxury shopping options in LA or NYC.  In fact, options just increased with the opening of Halston Heritage stores in both cities.

If you’re thinking about heading to Los Angeles, James Turrell’s incredible work will be on display at LACMA and the Kayne Griffin Corcoran Gallery.  For dining, acclaimed chefs Ludo Lefebvre, Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo (Animal, Son of a Gun) have teamed up to create the new restaurant Trois Mec.  The Little Door on Third Street is another of Carnet’s Los Angeles favorites, where local and seasonal ingredients are prepared with Mediterranean technique.

Visit Carnet for Free Login and Make Trip Plans for Romantic Luxury Getaway to Venice, Italy

Image

Carnet has the best suggestions for romantic outings during your getaway to Venice!  One idea is to take a motorboat across the Venetian lagoon to the island of Torcello. Visit the ruins of the old Byzantine Cathedral and have a late lunch under the shady pergolas of the gardens of Locanda Cipriani. You might be seated at the table where Ernest Hemingway wrote “Across the River and into the Trees.”

Venice, Italy is full of romance and whimsy in every season, so it’s always a great time to plan a Venetian getaway!  The city of Venice is incredibly beautiful; a stroll through its neighborhoods is a lovely and charming experience.  In the summer months, visitors and locals alike enjoy long evening walks along the Giudecca.  In autumn, you can walk across piazza San Marco, but don’t forget to bring your rubber boots because of the high tide!  In winter, ten centuries of history are covered by a silent blanket of snow.  In the spring, make sure to experience the flowers and scents of the secret gardens in the city of the Doge.

Whether you’re traveling to Venice looking for romance or are a seasoned traveler, the Carnet travel guide to Venice has insider travel reviews for culture rich entertainment, art museums, galleries, fine dining, luxury hotels and fashion designer shopping addresses.  While in Venice, Carnet suggests hiring a Water Taxi to take you to the Giudecca Canal just before sunset and enjoy the colors and reflection of the waters. Watch the rays of the sunset play on the gold of the domes of San Marco from the Bell Tower of San Giorgio Maggiore, far from the maddening crowd.

I found these romantic Venetian travel suggestions from my favorite travel guide, Travel with Carnet!

The Daily Guide to Las Vegas by Carnet Can Help a Visiting Traveler Create Plan for Luxury Getaway

Image

Looking to plan a luxury getaway?  It’s always a great time to visit Las Vegas!  Sin City is the perfect destination for romantic encounters, rekindling romance, and for extravagant dining experiences that are sure to satisfy even the most discriminating foodies.  Captivating performances by Cirque du Soleil, beautifully luxurious lodging accommodations, molecular cuisine, award winning wines, and Michelin star chefs can all be included in your Carnet luxury getaway itinerary.

Since 1984, Cirque du Soleil has been one of the most mystifying and captivating shows on Earth.  You are sure to gasp at the spectacle of one of the eight resident Cirque du Soleil performances during your next Sin City trip, especially when perfectly paired with Carnet’s restaurant picks.

Carnet suggests pairing dinner at Pierre Gagnaire’s Twist at the Mandarin Oriental with Cirque du Soleil’s “Mystere” at Treasure Island.  Both engagements guarantee an exotic and awe-inspiring evening.  Rather pay tribute to the King of Las Vegas?  Visit the Aria Resort and Casino for “Viva ELVIS,” but first, pair your show with the hospitality of Elvis’ Southern roots at the MGM Grand with a reservation at Emeril’s, the chef’s New Orleans fish house.  The molecular cuisine and atmosphere of exclusive E by Jose Andre at the Cosmopolitan perfectly complement Criss Angel’s “Believe” at the Luxor.

A French inspired meal complements “Zumanity” at New York-New York Hotel.  Visit Travel with Carnet for a list of French restaurant recommendations.  The Beatles tribute “LOVE” at the Mirage Hotel is perfectly paired with a visit to Todd English P.U.B. at CRYSTALS.  You can celebrate the aquatic and surreal love story of “O” with the seafood flavors of Joe’s Stone Crab at Caesars Palace or Michael Mina’s SEABLUE at the MGM Grand.

Want a behind-the-scenes glimpse at a Cirque du Soleil show?  To find out how, and to create your own luxury itenerary for a getaway to Las Vegas, visit Travel with Carnet!

In May Venice Gets Ready for Painting and Art Biennale While June is All About Rome and Vatican Celebrations

Image

If you’re planning to visit Italy this season, there are plenty of culture rich events to attend in both Rome and Venice!  The beautiful Italian cities are full of art, paintings, and culture.  During June, there are many religious observances in Rome. Make sure you witness at least one of the masses, processions and feasts.  On May 30th, Corpus Christi starts with a Mass at San Giovanni en Laterano, followed by a procession to Santa Maria Maggiore.  On June 24th, in observance of San Giovanni (John the Baptist), an additional mass, attended by hundreds of thousands of people, is held at San Giovanni Rome Cathedral. The feasts are typically comprised of street vendors who serve snails and suckling pig, flavored with pestled celery and caraway seeds, and roasted in traditional Roman style with salt and olive oil.  This year expect the celebrations to elevate to highlight the entry of newly enthroned Pope Francis.

On July 30th, a fundraising event will be held in Venice for the Historical Archives of Contemporary Arts.   In the basin of San Marco and the Giudecca Canal, hundreds of boats will be illuminated with paper lanterns. A boat bridge will float from the Dorsoduro to the Giudecca. Once a hotel, The Ca’ Giustinian is a former 15th century gothic palace near Ca Rezonico, just a canal view across from Palazzo Grazzi. The evening’s sit down meal will include local dishes and conclude with a 30 minute fireworks display just before midnight.  This event will definitely be worth attending, not only to support art, but to enjoy the beauty and magic of the city of Venice.

Previews of the 55th International Art Exhibition will be held in Venice May 29th through 31st; most art venues will be open daily from 10am to 6pm.  The exhibition will run from June 1st to November 24th, 2013.  If you want to attend the preview, or get special access during the event, consider purchasing a Biennale Card.  Historical Archives of Contemporary Arts benefit 100% from revenue related to sales of the Card.

I found out about these great events from my favorite travel guide, Travel with Carnet!

Find the Best Things to Do on Your Vacation, Including 5 Star Fine Dining and High Fashion Shopping

Image

I love Travel with Carnet because the website and travel guides make it easy to plan my luxury vacations!  When I use Carnet, I know that I’m staying at luxury hotels, eating the best cuisine, and shopping in the most fashionable areas of each city I visit.  Carnet helps me to get around some of the world’s most cultural cities and squeeze everything in to my itinerary that I want to do.  Traveling has never been so luxurious and so easy!  You can view Carnet mini guides here.

Where to Shop
Love to shop?  The mini guide lists a number of fashionable boutiques and even designer flagships in Paris.  For New York City, the mini guide honors Bloomingdale’s and other original New York department stores, calling them “Meccas.”  The Milan mini guide informs travelers of the best shopping areas in Milan, which is truly a shopper’s paradise.

Tourist Trapped
One of my favorite segments in the Carnet mini guide is called Tourist Trapped.  This segment includes quirky tips to help travelers decide for themselves if a famous tourist attraction is really just a tourist trap.  For example, in the Paris mini guide, Carnet offers travelers tips on how to get the best experience out of an Eiffel Tower visit, like how to avoid lines and where to find the best views of the city.  The London mini guide provides information about the reality of visiting Stonehenge.  I really appreciate Carnet’s honest approach.

Where to Eat
The mini guides also provide tips on where and what to eat in each city.  The guide recommends Soto for delicious Japanese cuisine in New York City.  Traveling to Paris?  The Carnet mini guide not only recommends a number of excellent Parisian restaurants, but also provides information on some popular Parisian specialties, including Salade gourmande, foie gras with a string bean salad.

I love the way the Travel with Carnet web site is organized.  The design reflects Carnet’s dedication to luxury and fashion, and there are many ways to browse, save, and store helpful travel information.  I can even save Carnet’s suggested itineraries to my TravelCarnet on my mobile phone.  Carnet’s guides are designed for culture seekers and foodies who like to walk the best neighborhoods in a city when they travel.

Whether I’m traveling in Europe or visiting one of my favorite American cities, Carnet is my favorite trip planner.  Carnet makes it easy to plan a luxurious trip filled with fine dining, culture rich entertainment, and fashionable shopping.
