Guess Who is Honoring His American Idols With His New Album? Oleg Frish!

Guess who is honoring his American Idols with his new album?? That’s right you guessed it. It is Russian-born entertainer Oleg Frish. He is one of my favorite Classic Standards artists. Not only is he a talented singer, but a TV and Radio host as well as a journalist. He came to America twenty short years ago and has not looked back since. I am so excited about his new album, which comes out May 19th, called “Oleg Frish: Duets With My American Idols.”  Oleg did not hold anything back for this release. He teams up with some his American Idols including Ben E. King, B.J. Thomas, Lainie Kazan, Bobby Rydell, Chris Montez, Peggy March and even a few more. The newest single off this album is called “You’re Nobody Til Somebody Loves You” and everyone needs to take a listen to it. You can watch Oleg and Gary U.S. Bonds perform it on YouTube.

If you guys want anymore information then check out his Facebook here, YouTube and his website at www.OlegFrish.com. I promise you will not be disappointed.

I’m Always Looking For More American Standards Covers Like Annie Lennox’s New Album Nostalgia

Delilha by Lynne Peters Holdeman-164

I’m always trying to keep my eyes peeled for artists doing covers of American standards like from the Great American Songbook, they’re my absolute favorite! I just loved Annie Lennox’s latest standards album Nostalgia which led me to discover this phenomenal singer Delilah. Delilah just released an EP titled “Sarah +1, A Tribute to Sarah Vaughan” where she does these lovely covers of some Sarah Vaughan hits. The plus 1 track is a beautiful rendition of Charlie Chaplin’s Smile from the movie Modern Times. How cool is that? You can listen to Smile on Soundcloud (it’s my favorite off the album!)

I found out about Delilah from listening to Martini in the Morning, cause the host Brad Chambers said “The charts and her vocals underscore Delilah’s commitment to taking timeless tunes like Charlie Chaplin’s music, John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons’ lyrics and making her ‘Smile’ a totally new creation. She’s fresh, she’s contemporary, she respects the heritage of these ‘Great American Songbook’ titles.” I’ve been hooked ever since! She also has a Facebook and website www.DelilahMusic.com. If you loved what you heard, you can get “Sarah +1” on iTunes

Great new SOUL/R&B artist – K.SON gives Seal a run for the money!~

Have you heard K.Son’s “Now &Forever” Digital CD? I was truly impressed by this newcomer to the R&B/Soul/Smooth Jazz scene. He’s got an awesome voice reminiscent of Ne-yo, Seal or maybe Montel Jordan. I first heard the killer single “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” on Solar Radio. His rendition of the song once made famous by “Tears for Fears” includes his soulful vocals, a raging guitarist &bass player, and an unexpected hip hop riff.
The video is great – check it out at: http://www.vimeo.com/2362858

I was able to get the full album download at Amazon (or you can get the singles) – here’s the link –

In a recent interview, he says “If I were to categorize myself in a record store, I would probably be hanging out with the likes of: RES, The Brand New Heavies, Amel Larrieux, Sade, Loose Ends, Jill Scott, Me’shelle NdegeOcello, India.Arie and the Groove Collective.”
I’d like to see him collaborate with anyone of them! I’m gonna keep an eye on K.Son – if he keeps putting out music like this, he’ll no doubt have a big future – and I love discovering talent before everyone else does!
