Tommy James Draggin’ The Line 2020 Spotify single features Steven VanZandt of Bruce Springsteen band

Tommy James, legendary star of Tommy James and the Shondells, drops a stellar remake of his hit, “Draggin The Line (2020 Version)”, featuring Emmy Award-winning rapper T.O.N.E-z and celebrated guitarist Steven van Zandt. Steven van Zandt is the beloved guitarist of Bruce Springsteen and The E-Street Band and fronts his own Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul.

The original “Draggin The Line” was a top 5 single in 1971. In 2019, James released Alive, his first album in ten years where he included the hip-hop-infused “Draggin’ The Line” (2020 Version). The album charted #10 on Billboard’s Independent Chart.

Tommy James has long been known as a music innovator and masterful writer and producer, revered for his cutting edge work on his multiple platinum hits including “Crimson & Clover,” Mony Mony,” and “Crystal Blue Persuasion.”

 

Although he was a huge hitmaker in the 70’s he has not slowed his roll. Tommy can be heard weekly on his SiriusXM 60s On 6 satellite radio show, and continues to tour the U.S., playing dozens of sold out shows annually. His critically acclaimed autobiography, Me The Mob and The Music, has a film version in the works with producer Barbara DeFina (Good Fellas, Casino).

Tommy James Cinnamon Girl/Sunshine of your love Spotify rendition of Neil Young and Cream single

Classic Rock icon, Tommy James, is making headlines with his new top song on Spotify. His hit single is a mashup of  Neil Young’s Crazy Horse, and Cream’s, “Cinnamon Girl” and “Sunshine of your love”.  The Hitmaker has always been a big fan of his fellow rock stars in the 1960s, stating “I’ve been wanting to glue these two songs together for a long time”. “-The riffs work together hand-in-glove. They’re the same tempo and key – yet totally different songs!”

“Cinnamon Girl” by Neil Young and Crazy Horse was on the Platinum selling album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere” released in 1969, and reached #34 in 1970 on Billboard magazine’s Top 200 LP chart. The single peaked at #55 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970.

“Sunshine Of Your Love” by Cream was on the album Disraeli Gears” released in 1967, and reached #77 in 1968 on the LP chart.  The 45 peaked at #5 in 1968 and was a Gold single.

This bright and tight mashup was released to digital outlets worldwide on March 20, 2020 via Aura Entertainment/The Orchard.

When Tommy’s not touring around the globe, he shares rock and roll history as a star host  of Getting’ Together With Tommy James” on SiriusXM 60s on 6 – Sunday evenings from 5-8 pm.

The prestigious NEW JERSEY HALL OF FAME inducted Tommy and his LIFE-SIZE HOLOGRAM can be viewed at the NJHOF EXHIBIT at NEWARK AIRPORT in New Jersey at terminal C. He was also given the PITTSBURGH LEGEND AWARD and was voted the JUKEBOX ARTIST OF THE YEAR AWARD by THE AMUSEMENT AND MUSIC OWNERS ASSOCIATION OF NEW YORK.

Feel Good Single, Tommy James Medley of Neil Young and Cream Chart-Toppers on Spotify

Check out the new feel-good single, by Tommy James for a Neil Young and Cream medley that’s topping Spotify charts! The title of his track is Cinnamon/Sunshine and was just released earlier this month on the 20th.

To create this cover, James “glued” together Sunshine of Your Love by Cream and Neil Young’s Cinnamon Girl. He says: “The riffs work together hand-in-glove. They’re the same tempo and key – yet totally different songs!” As always, this innovative producer continues to bring something new to the table!

Since the 60’s, as the singer and songwriter for Tommy James and the Shondells and to this day, the rock legend continues to play sold out shows while actively representing the musicians of his era.
